father: Alexander Géarchuiseach (49)
mother: Kathrin Juniper (45)
brothers: Adam Adelram Géarchuiseach (15, 4th year, Slytherin)
sisters: None
other: Bittles, his pet hedgehog, Magic side: Jasper (grandfather,) Lorel (Grandmother.) Muggle side: Denima (grandfather,) Porish (grandmother.)
history:
Kathrin Juniper had watched the Dark Lord fall. She had been a Hufflepuff seventh year. She had seen the destruction he had caused, and the pain he had brought. And she had seen the change in the wizarding world soon after. The burning and banning of books pertaining to the war. The changing of history itself. And she didn’t understand why. So she left. Left England, and took up a small house in a town in Ireland. It was all she could afford after exchanging her limited wizard money from her parents into muggle money. She wanted to live free of magic. She wanted to put the threats and the memories behind her. That all ended years later when she moved to a smaller town, and met Alexander.
Alexander Géarchuiseach was a famer. A muggle farmer, raising sheep and dogs, growing wheat and rye barley. He had come into town on his monthly food shopping, and had caught her eye. His bright red hair, deep green eyes, freckles that spoke of long hours in the sun. And she stole his heart. Her short brown hair, her grey eyes, her smile that stopped his breathing and blanked out the world around him. The courtship was short. He’d come to town once a week and take her for dinner, a drink or two. Within the year they were married. And when life couldn’t seem to get any better, years down the road, when a child was born. On October 15th, Jasper Eagna Géarchuiseach started his mark on the world.
Red curly hair of his father, darkened by bits of brown from his mother, Jasper was named after his grandfather on his mother’s side. It was obvious who he belonged too, no one could mistake him for another couple’s child. The hair was his father’s, the eyes his mother’s. He would grow tall, with long hands and broad shoulders, almost a clone of his father in every aspect. But that face was all her doing. All angles and lines. High cheek bones that framed slanted eyes and pouty lips. Alex and Kat thought they couldn’t be happier. That was, of course, until a year and a day later, Jasper’s brother was born.
Jasper learned how to care for the dogs. He loved how they’d chase the sheep to wherever his father wanted them to go, how happy they were to see him every morning. He took to tending the wheat fields, ridding with his dad in the seat of the tractor as the fields were plowed each season. But what he had the most fun he had was when he grew older, and was allowed to explore the country side with Adam. They’d run, they’d play, they’d enjoy their freedom as young boys. Catching frogs by day, fireflies by night.
When Jasper was eight, he started to show signs of magic, much to his mother’s distress. She wanted to go to the muggle world and leave the magic behind. But she couldn’t deny her son. He had a right to learn about his ability, how to control it, and choose for himself. So when his letter came, his mother explained the magical world to her family. She left out the war, knowing that should her son choose this life he’d find more trouble that it was worth if he knew. Alexander left, for two weeks, trying to wrap his head around the secret his wife had kept. Jasper leapt at the chance to go to a school of magic.
Once Alex came back, and gave his blessing, Jasper was sent away from Ireland, to England, where he spent the last of the summer with his grandparents, meeting his namesake for the first time. Granddad Jasper was more than pleased to see that the magic still flowed through his daughter’s bloodline, and Grandma Lorel was excited to spoil her grandson rotten. Their trip to Diagon Alley was full of treats and excitement. The train ride to school was spent oggeling out the window and ignoring the students around him.
And the sorting hat calling out Ravenclaw had been so loud that Jasper jumped out of his skin when it rang in his ears. Ravenclaw? That wasn’t the house his mother had been in. Would she be upset? He hoped not. Because the people at his table were smart, were nice, were calm, nothing at all like the Hufflepuff table which was just as loud as the Gryffindor table. Coming from a quite farm to the busy wizarding world was a shock. Diagon Alley had been loud and crowded but it was a market. He had taken wool and sheep to market with his father and he expected it. But the school was almost overwhelming. So the calm, polite Ravenclaws were a moment to breathe. And the dazzling common room was a second to sleep. He would get used to it over time. He’d come to love it. And when he learned that next year his brother would be on the train with him too, it made everything all the better.

rp example: Jasper was, in a word, bored. BORED BORED BORED! Winter break had started, half his house was visiting family for the holiday, and there were no classes with which to keep himself busy. The castle was cold, and dull, and grey, and boring. Adam was goodness knows where, so there was no badgering his brother to keep him entertained. He had already sent a letter home using Adam’s owl (of course he didn’t tell him, that’d be too obvious) and it would be difficult to sneak to the Forbidden Forest with all the fresh snow giving his tracks away. Which was a real pity. It had been very cold last night, surely some small squirrel or creature had died of it? He could find some more bones, perhaps play with the new fire spell he had learned the other day in Charms.
He had sent his pet Bittles out into the castle an hour ago with a note tied to his middle for his brother. “Where are you I’m bored.” It had yet to be answered, meaning he was being ignored.
He could always take a skate on the lake. The ice had thickened enough to no longer be a real hazard, but it was windy and cold and the fire in the common room was so nice and warm. UGH there had to be something to DO[/B]! Shoving himself out of the arm chair Jasper started to pace the common room floor, ignoring the already well-laid tracks in the rugs from previous students that had faced his same dilemma eons ago. One. Two. Three. Stop. Turn. One. Two. Three. Stop. Turn. His long legs made pacing difficult. He could cross most of the floor space that was clear of tables chair and books in three strides. It was monotonous and tedious and boring. Was it really that hard to keep himself occupied? How was he going to survive the next two weeks?! Maybe he could snatch something from the potions cabinet and see how many ways he could make bat wings explode? Too bad the house was almost empty, what he’d give for someone to take his mind off the numbing boredom.
